Mondo Bag

Did I hear you say, "If only I had room in my bag for one more thing..."? This bag may be the answer. It's roomy and comfortable and just great. It is made using a "Fuse, Fold, & Sew" method resulting in perfectly-matched seams and easy construction. The bottom of the bag is about 10" square with 17" tall sides.

Supply List:

Please bring all your supplies that you would normally use for sewing/quilting along with your sewing machine. An appliqué pressing sheet and walking foot are also recommended. Please follow the supply list on your pattern for the fabric and fusible fleece that you need. Your preparation for class is to have everything cut out. I used a 5 inch charm pack and cut (4) 2 1/2 inch squares out of one charm square. You may also cut your own scraps of fabric into 2 1/2 inch squares. You will need (192) 2 1/2 squares. Don’t worry if your squares are not perfect.

Your pattern has directions for parts 1 through 12. Please read 1 and 2 and follow these directions to be prepared for class. A short explanation is in the below paragraph.

After cutting your interfacing apart into 4 gridded sections lay one section, fusible side (rough side) up on the ironing board. Place fabric squares right side up between the dotted placement lines. Fuse! Place an appliqué pressing sheet over your piece to prevent getting the fusible on the iron. To fuse use steam. Press, don’t glide or slide. Press for 5 to 10 seconds until all areas are fused. Let the area cool a bit before handling the fabric.

You will not be cutting out your lining and fleece till the front of your bag is complete. We will be cutting our handles out of one solid fabric and not be inserting a pocket due to time but will talk about it in class.
